DENDURA BIOGRAPHY

*Band photo from "New Life" album*

Everyone has a story, this is Denduras. Progressive metal band, Dendura Originally formed in February of 2004, establishing their sound by mixing in some of their songs with an Egyptian/Middle Eastern (Aziza is Egyptian & Lebanese) sound along with having other songs of theirs with a haunting feel while drawing from the more progressive and technical side of hard rock and metal. Most of Denduras music is in minor scales and many of their lyrics use the mythology & history of Egypt. The name came from The temple of Hathor at Dendera which was built between 125 BCE and 65 CE belonging to the Greaco-Roman period. Dendera had since long been a cult centre, also then with the goddess of joy, Hathor, as the central deity. Dendura gigged around Detroit, Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids and then lost their drummer and keyboardist. Though they werent functional as a live band, that didnt stop them from getting exposure from motion picture feature films such as Broken, Cycle Of Fear, Bed & Breakfast, Perception, Buck Moon, A Day in the life (documentary), and The Devils Eye. It wasnt until the movie premier of Cycle Of Fear on April 22nd, 2006 that Dendura would play live again. The band released their debut album New Life at the show and has since been selling copies in the United States but also in Egypt, Brazil, Germany and Italy. Their music is described from reviewers as: Melodic, moody, and powerful, blending strong female vocals with a Middle Eastern-influenced progressive metal sound, the band's intricate percussion, snaking bass, and blend of distorted guitar riffing, melodic clean guitar, and soaring metal lead work coalesce into a fairly well produced, written, and performed album Joshua Heinrich Graveconcernzine.com and "Mystical and thought provoking, there is a plethora of melodic breakdowns, lead-breaks and more than your share of thunderous guitar riffs. Sultry, seductive and hypnotic, if the impact of New Life is but just a prelude to the madness, then the world is in for a very special treat." - Black Angel Promotions/ In June of 2006, Dendura wanted to evolve their sound and kept running into an ad of a guitarist and drummer looking for like minded musicians who were influenced by the same bands (Dream Theater, Evergrey, Queensryche, and Nevermore). After several meetings and rehearsals, Dendura joined forces with Paul Stein (guitar) and Justin Mosteller (drums) and into Dendura. Both Justin and Paul also had similar problems finding like minded musicians who had the same passion, goals and desires. Dendura knows the meaning of pain and has fallen, risen and has conquered many obstacles.
